The Old Doctors
Drew blood modern doctors cleanse it;
hence the increased demand for Altera-
tives. It is now well known that most
diseases are due not to over-abundance
but to impurity of the Blood; and it
is equally well attested that no blood
medicine is so efficacious as Ayer’s
Sarsaparilla.
“ One of my children had a large sore
break out on the leg. We applied
simple remedies for a while thinking
the sore would shortly heal. But it grew
worse. We sought medical advice and
were told that an alterative medicine
was neeessary. Ayer’s Sarsaparilla
being
Recommended
above all others we used it with mar-
velous results. The sore healed and
health and strength rapidly returned.”
— J. J. Armstrong Weimar Texas.
“ I find Ayer's Sarsaparilla to be an
admirable remedy for the cure of blood
diseases. I prescribe it. and it does the
work every time.” — E. L. l’ater M. D.
Manhattan Kansas.
“ We have sold Ayer’s Sarsaparilla
here for over thirty years and always
recommend it when asked to name the
best blood-purifier.” —W. T. McLean
Druggist Augusta Ohio.
“ Ayer’s medicines continue to be the
Standard remedies in spite of all com-
petition.”— T. W. Richmond Bear
Lake Mich.

EDITORIAL BREVITIES
Thk secretary of the treasury has at
length concluded that it la not worth
while to keep a cool $100000000 and
over in the treasury while Uncle Sam
is deeply in debt and paying interest on
his Investments. It has taken Grover a
long time to find out what congress
meant but the Intelligence has filtered
through bls cranium at last.
If Texas has to pay big money for ad-
vertising pay railway fares to prospec-
tors wine and dine them at the Lone
Star end of the route and guarantee 10
per cent advance upon the original out-
lay of purchasers who want their money
back at the end of twelve months she
will needs pull in her old shingle and
hangup a new one. If this is the Da-
kota style no wonder that the blizzard
regions are being rapidly settled up.
Such competition as this will compel
Texas to lengthen her horns or pull
them in altogether.
The Dallas Herald continues to air
the Aransas Pass situation discourse
concerning its possibilities and proba-
bilities and show up the grand outcome
of the opening up of that port in a way
that must make the ears of Galveston
tingle. The Herald says:
The Aransas Pass Improvement com-
Co. it is claimed will expend one of their
two million dollars capital alone on
deep water; and government engineers
have estimated that one million would
make the best harbor there in the south
except possibly New Orleans. A North
and South American National bank of
immense capital is to be established to
facilitate the trade between the Ameri-
cans. A North Texas man prominent
in business and asbrewed financier says
that in a few years almost the entire
South American trade with this coun-
try will be done through Aransas Pass.
The size of the monkey in the barber
shop ie evidently creeping through the
wool of North Texas.
Tim men who have made money in
cattle in Texas this year are those who
have fatted their own beef and shipped
it to market. The day has passed in
which young cattle are to be raised in
Texas merely to supply the feeding and
fattening grounds of other localities.
Young cattle are too low to bring a
good price in the market. Cattlemen
have been forced into preparing their
own beef for market and finding it
more profitable than raising yearlings
at present and late prices are turning
their attention to older cattle and will
hereafter grow more two and three
year olds and put their mature cattle
upon the market. The one drawback
the market will bo removed with open
water communication as this will give
the Texas beef raiser his choice of a
market at homo or abroad and save him
from the monopoly of the Chicago beef
buyers. Thore Is a much bettor out-
look for Toxas beef growers than for the
grower of young cattle for sale.
