FRIDAY NOVEMBER 16 1888.
Magistrate —“What is your full
name?” Prisoner —Well sir when
I’m full the boys call me Snoozer but
my real name is Jack Sharp.”—Bur-
lington Free Press.
An exchange says it knows a grocer
who is supposed to be the honestest
man in the world. He chases the
Hies off the beam of his scales before
he allows them to balance. —Smith-
ville News.
“But what an awful lot o’money
these high-toned travelers waste for
drink” said Uncle Abner as he laid
down his newspaper. “A man who’ll
pay $lOO for a saloon passage to Eng-
land when he can go in the steerage
for $2O is a slave to rum—that’s what
I say!”—Life.
Tom Bigbee—“Why Downes you
are quite a swell.” Upson Downes
(somewhat truthfully)—“Ye-es; I was
unlucky euough to win an election
hat and I couldn’t rest until I’d sot a
new suit to match it. I tell you Tom
success sometimes comes pretty high
in this world.” —Puck.

November 9th 1888 (
This is to certify that we the undersign-
ed citizens of the city of San Antonio
have been using the Home Comfort Range
manufactured by the Wrought Iron Range
company of St. Louis Missouri and can
cheerfully recommend it as being the best
cooking apparatus we have ever used. It
furnishes an abundance of hot water and
uses less fuel than any cast stove we have
used.

A Narrow Escape.
Col. W. K. Nelson of Brooklyn
came home one evening feeling a pe-
culiar tightness in the chest. Before
retiring he tried to draw a long
breath but found it almost impossible.
He suffered four days from pneumo-
nia and the doctors gave him up. Dr.
Acker’s English Remedy for Con-
sumption saved him and he is well
today. (8) Ragland & Co.
