celebration. Savannah is ready to wel-

aboard the transport St. Mihiel. from
their watch on the Rhine. A half holi-
day has been declared by Mayor Sea-

Boys of San Antonio and nearby towns now have the oppor-
tunity of a life time to learn salesmanship and earn money at the
same tint. Beginning tomorrow The Light will print a different lesson
in salesmanship each day. _ These lessons have been written especially
for boys. They will explain the fundmentaals of salesmanship. How
to become a successful salesman the reason why some succeed and
some fail in the selling game and hundreds of important points that a
salesman must keep constantly in mind.
You will enjoy these talks; they are written especially for boys.
Whether you intend to bcome a salesman or to take up some other line
of work or profession you will receive a great benefit from reading and
studying these talks to boy salesmen.
In addition to the lessons which will be printed in The Light
there will be a series oftalks at meetings to be held at the office of
The Light. Men who have been trained in the art of salesmanship will
conduct these meetings and there will be some practical experience for
thos who desire it.
Every boy should save these lessons which will be printed in The
Light daily; study them and receive the benefit of the opinions of a
man who has been in the selling gme for yeaars.
Get a scrap book clip the lessons from The Light each day and
paste them in the book for future reference. You will have occasion
to consult them often.

Houston Tex. Feb. B.—The Harris
county grand jury will continue its in-
vestigation into the whipping of Mrs.
R. H. Harrison and R. A. Armand
of Goose Creek until the mob members
have been indicted or until further in-
vestigation has been barred by the
statute of limitations.
This was the ultimatum handed down
Monday afternoon by Judge G. W.
Robinson in criminal district court
after swearing in the new grand jury.

The judge included the Odd Fellows the
Masons and the Ku Klux Klan in his
mention of organizations which should
be investigated for proof of maintaining
whipping mobs for corrective pur-
poses.
In referring to the Masons and the
Odd Fellows the judge declared that
while he did not believe either were in
any way responsible for the Goose
Creek crime he stated that it wns his
belief that the grand jury could find
at least one member in each body who
could throw light on the floggings and
that ft was also his belief that “you
ought to find one truthful member of
the Ku Klux Klan.”
Spanish Prince Has Ocdits Plan.
New York. Feb. 6.— l’rince Louis de
Bourbon half-brother of King Alfonso
of Spain left last night for Washing-
ton to submit plans to the Treasury
Department for the stabilization of in-
ternational credits. He will also con-
fer with State Department officials re-
garding concessions be holds from the
heirs of the Turkish sultan for the
Mosul oil fields.

Mexican Doctor’s State-
ments Are Without
Confirmation.
El Paso. Tex. Feb. 8. —Juarzez po-
lice were without confirmation of re-
ports that Clara Phillips Los Angeles
alleged "hammer murderess” had been
in Juarez or that Dr. J. R. L’ribe of
Juarez had promised to tell the where-
abouts of the woman with the under-
standing that his two sons would be re-
leased from a charge of joyriding in
Los Angeles.
Dr. Uribe said he had been working
on the Felipe Olguin or Alguin case
with George Holmdabl former pur-
chasing agent at El Paso for “Pancho”
Villa who is supposed to have influence
in Mexican matters of state. He also
said Holmdahl had told him that Clara
Phillips stopped at the same hotel where
Holtndnhl lives in El Paso and showed
him the house she was supposed to
have gone to in Juarez.
He has made no arrangement to de-
liver the woman to authorities under
any circumstances he said. He main-
tained that he did not know the woman's
whereabouts at present.
Holmdahl said he understood that
Clara Phillips was shielded by a man
called “the Scurvy Kid’’ and they had
been in Juarez. The "Kid" is there now
he believed.
Mrs. Phillips went to New Orleans
then to Tampico and by rail to Chi-
huahua City he said. He said he got
his information from unauthentie
sources while transacting other busi-
ness.
Holmdahl is watching today for re-
ports on Olguin wanted on a charge
of killing Sergeant Fitzgerald of the
Los Angeles police. He is supposed to

Galveston Tex. Feb. B.— The tankers
Tamiahua and Elisha Walker were
searched by police and immigration of-
ficers today without success in an
effort to locate Phil Alguin wanted in
Los Angeles on a murder charge and
bblieved to be on his way here from
a Mexican port. A wireless conver-
sation with the captain of the British
steamship Novian two days ont of
Vera Cruz also revealed that no one
answering Alguin's description is among
her passengers or crew. Advices from
Tampico said the tanker Mexicano left
there Monday but efforts to get in
touch with her by wireless were unsuc-
cessful. Police Chief James O. Steven-
son cabled the American consul at Tam-
pico asking for more definite informa-
tion about Alguin but late last night
l-.ad received no reply.

GAS KILLS THREE
Fumes From Open Heater Overcome
Occupants of House.
I«s Angeles Feb. B.— -Carbon monox-
ide gas caused the deaths here Monday
of Joseph Pieraux Mrs. Bessie Lee and
Mrs. A. Northey whose bodies were
found in Mrs. Northey's home in the
southeast section of the city shortly
after noon county autopsy surgeons
announced last night.
Police at first held the theory that
the three had partaken of some poisoned
food or drink as the open gas heater
which was burning the room with the
bodies when police surgeons entered
did not appear to be throwing off pois-
onous fumes.
SAYS COUSIN BEAT HER

New York. Feb. B.— Stephen Licata
of St. Louis was arrested at the Brook-
lyn marriage license bureau Momlav
(barged with abducting his cousin.
Jeanette Abbatc 17 from her home
Inst Thursday and holding her prisoner
for four days. The girl told police
Licata beat her until she consented to
marry him. He was held in $lOOOO
bail for kidnaping.

Baltimore Md.. Feb. B.—Two riot
calls for the police were sounded here
last night when James Dowrick a pro-
hibition agent from Washington was
severely beaten and robbed of his valua-
bles and an attempt made to set on
fire an automobile truck laden with con-
fiscated liquor by a mob which became
angered after prohibition agents raided
a .-saloon. Dowrick was removed to a
hospital where his injuries were treat-
ed. No arrest were made.
SANFORD SWORN IN
New Associate Justice leaves lor
Washington to Assume Duties.
Knoxville Tenn. Feb. B.—Judge Ed-
ward T. Sanford was today sworn in as
associate justice of the United States
Court. The oath was administered by
Clerk Horace Vandeventer of the Fed-
eral District Court of East Tennessee.
Judge Sanford left last night for Wash-
ington.
