THURSDAY. AUGUST 1.1833.
Our little girl when bit three weeks old broke on*
with eczema. We tried the prescription from sev-
eral good doctors ?".t without any special benefit.
We tried S. S. S. and by the time one bottle w„s
gone her hoa'*. bt ran to heal and by the time she
had taken six bodies she was completely cured.
Now she has a full and heavy head of hair—a
robust healthy child. I feel it but my duty to mak

Woman’s hals have assumed a new
wrinkle. The Paris models reported
in London are said to be “somewhat
fantastical in shape the brims break-
ing out in unexpected curves de-
pressed here raised there and twisted
into all sorts of angles.” A double
crowned hat has also been seen.
The most extensive building in the
world is undoubtedly machinery hall
in the Paris exposition. It is nearly
a quarter of a mile long and 370 feet
broad. Its root which covers 60000
square feet is one great arch spann-
ing the entire distance from side to
side without one single intervening
support.
The ground tinder an elm tree on
Jackson street Brazil Ind. was
covered with the dead bodies of
English sparrows Friday morning.
These birds had been in the habit of
congregating in this tree and it is
supposed that they were all killed
by lightning as their bodies were
entirely stripped of feathers.
A popular physician of Brooklyn
has a little girl who expounded tlie
Scriptures to him in the following
remarkable manner while reciting
her Sunday school lesson on Friday
night: “The Lord is my shepherd
and I shall not want. He maketh me
to lie (hesitating) He maketh me to
lie—and do lots of other things.”
AnOk lahoma hack driver purchased
two lots on the day after the opening
from men who decided that there
would never be a city and who were
going away in disgust. For one he
paid $lO and for the other he traded
a well worn six-shooter. One of the
lots he has since sold for $llOO and
he is holding the six-shooter lot for
$1500.
The Jennens heirs in this country
have been trying for ten years to
secure a $3000000 fortune in England.
During that time they have sent
Lawyer 8. C. Cook about $60000 for
fees and expenses. • At last they dis-
placed Cook and when he turned up
at their convention the other day
they were so disgusted that they ex-
pelled him from the meeting.
A chunk of ice weighing 100 pounds
w’as placed in front of a store atGalla-
tin'Mo. on the morning ofthe Fourth.
It melted away in 1211 1-4 minutes.
A price was offered for the one guess-
ing nearest the time it would take to
melt the ice. Mrs. Addie Cavolt of
Jamieson guessed 1215 minutes and
that being the nearest she got the
prize a fine set of decorated dishes.
An Albany girl was out rowing in
the Atlantic at a seaside resort one
day last week when suddenly she
discovered near her an immense sperm
whale that came to the surface and
spouted not 100 yards from the little
boat in which she and a friend were
rowing. One may imagine that she
was frightened but the whale was
not pugnacious and she got back to
the shore some three miles distant
safe and wiser than before.
“Conspiracies. ”
More than 200 years ago—in 1682—
England passed the following law
under the title of “Conspiracies.”
With a few changes it would do very
well for an anti-trusts law right now:
If any butchers brewers bakers
poulterers costermongers cooks or
fruiterers shall conspire covenant
make promise or oath not to sell their
victuals but at certain prices; or if
artificers workmen or laborers con-
spire covenant or promise or make
oaths that they will not do their work
but at certain prices or rates or shall
not work but at certain hours and
times or shall not take on them to
finish what another hath begun or
shall do but a certain work in a day;
such person convicted by witness or
otherwise shall forfeit £lO to the
King and if he do not pay it within
six days after conviction shall have
twenty days imprisonment and shall
only have bread and water. And for
the third offense shall forfeit £4O and
if he pay it not within six days shall
be set in the pillory and have one of
his ears cut off aud be infamous.
And if such conspiracy be made in a
society company or any craft mys-
tery or occupation of the victualers
above mentioned by the more part
of them then over and besides the
particular punishment above men-
tioned the corporation be dissolved.
Justices of the peace mayors etc.
as their sessions and courts shall
hear and determine the offenses and
punish the offenders.

“Another wonderful discovery has been
made and that too by a lady in this county.
Disease fastened its clutches upon her and
for seven years she withstood its severest
tests; but her vital organs were undermined
and death seemed imminent. For three
months she coughed incessantly and could
not sleep. She bought of us a bottle of Dr.

sne slept all night and with one bottle has
been miraculously cured. Her name is Mrs.
