The German Literary Club held
its initial meeting of the season
Monday afternoon. Mrs. A. Sachs

turned from Chicago gave a tie-
tailed account of the biennial as
well as an earnest appeal for an
active club year. Mrs. Ida Schweppe
was the loader for the afternoon’s
study and papers were read by Mrs.
E. F. Hertzberg and Mrs. Rudolph

the club to the "war sufferers’
fund." a check being mailed to Mrs. i
A. W. Houston. It was decided to
give an entertainment sumo time
next month the receipts to go to
the sufferers In the war zone. A 1
meeting will be held next Monday

The San Antonio Dramatic Club
met Tuesday night with the presi-
dent Mrs. John F. Onion. The club
decided to study Bernard Shaw’s
"You Never Can Tell" as the first
of the plays to be studied this year
under the leadership of Mrs. (). T.
Gregory. It also was decided that
the club will present Henry Law-
rence Southwick of Boston in a dra-
matic recital here November 30.
The names of Miss Esther Burch.
L. B. Collins and A. K. Woodcock
were received.
Mrs. Perry J. Lewis will honor
Miss Barna Lawson Camp with a
luncheon at 1 o’clock Tuesday Oc-
tober 20. at her home in French
Place.
The Missionary’ Society of the
Travis Park Methodist Church will
hold its annual get-together meet-
ing from 3 until 6 o’clock Thursday
afternoon in the Philathea rooms of
the church.
