Brand New “97 Intrepid
New care labels are appear-
ing on garments throughout the
United States. Right now and
until December, 1998, explana-
tions of the symbols will appear
on the care label of garments.
However, after December, 1998,
manufacturers will not be re-
quired to put explanations with
the symbols. Following care in-
structions on garments can save
consumers money that could be
lost if care instructions are not
followed and the garment is ru-
ined when cleaned improperly.
The Extension office has pub- .
lications that illustrate the new
care label symbols. These can be
hung in the laundry room, near
the washer and dryer or can be
carried on shopping trips. Con-
tact the office if you are inter-
ested in these publications.
This month's health obser-
vance is the Great American
Smokeout - scheduled for Thurs-
day, November 20,1997 (today).
For smokers, the Great Ameri-
can Smokeout is a day to prove
to themselves that they can quit
by putting up their cigarettes
and other tobacco products for
the day.
Non-smokers can join in the
Smokeout by adopting relatives,
friends, and co-workers to help
them quit for the day.
