were unable to bring him
around and score. Baird went
quietly in the 3rd. We started
the 3rd with back to back hits
by Walt Clifton and Trey
Horton. Phillips and Wesson
both reached base and Walt was
able to get in to make it 3-3.
Baird lead off the 4th with a
walk, but that was followed by
three strike outs in a row. The
Eagles half of the 4th proved
to be the back breaker for
Baird. Miller, Moseley and
Walt got walked, before Trey
Horton brought them home
with a triple. Wade Clifton
promptly brought Horton in
with a single to right center to
push the total to 8-3. Baird
went 1-2-3 in the top of the 5th
as Walt Clifton came in to
change the pace on the mound.
We follo wed that with Landon
Schwartz getting hit in the arm
to reach 1st. Landon stole 2nd
and then made it home on
Walt’s hit to left field. Baird got
two runs in the top of the 7th
but it was too little too late as
the score ended 9-5 in favor of
the Eagles.
It was a great feeling to win
Bi-District. To be the first
Goldthwaite Baseball Team to
do this is a special feeling. I
hope we can keep it going.
