Friends and Neighbors... we really need your help!
As you probably already know, there is a Native American center and botanical gardens planned for the entire
block where the Saylor Hotel used to be. Well, we are all very excited about the lovely addition to our town and
the education and commerce it will bring... But what in the world are we going to call it? Its official name "The
Mills County Botanical Gardens and Native American Interpretive Center" is just way too long! We are looking
for a catchy name that will tell what a culturally rich center this will be!
Here are a few things you might need to know in order to come up with something...
- The architecture is a wonderfully modem curved structure with special attention paid to the seasons and
angles of the sun at different times and will be 100% "green"
- There will be a Native American Interpretive Center. It will highlight the lifestyle of the indigenous people
and will be hands on to further students’ knowledge of technology, history and archeology.
- A space for Traveling Exhibits and Library
- A Botanical Garden that highlights native plants and draws attention to use of harvested rainwater
- Town Green that will serve as a restful oasis for the community and visitors
- New Businesses, A Cafe, Museum Shop and Garden Shop
- An Event room for Receptions and Meetings
- Open areas and meeting rooms for family and community events
I know, a catchy name for something that spans this much cultural substance will be a challenge, but remem-
ber, there are bragging rights to be had!
Please send your suggestions to... PO Box 513 Goldthwaite 76844
or e-mail them to lhtngwmn@centex.net
Entries must be in by Friday May 25. The winner will be posted in the following week’s Eagle. Thanks You!
