BELTON, Dee. 2.—Former Sheriff
Albert Bonds, of Bell County, under
indictment for the slaying of Chief
of Police Wiley Fisher, of Temple,
last August, was shot and probably
fata’ly wounded about 9 p. m. Thurs-
day by an unidentified assailant. A
posse was immediately organized by
Sheriff Bingham and search for the
assailant is being made.
Bonds was shot in the left side of
the head and the sight of one eye
will probably be lost, even if he re-
covers. It was stated at the hospital.
The charge of buekshot struck him
while standing within a block of the
place where Fisher was killed with
a shotgun similarly loaded, Aug. 20.
