ZIMMERMAN’S
SPORT SPURTS
By HAROLD V. AATLIFP
The railbirds at Rhome Field
have just about decided that Cle-
burne High will have a good team
this season after all. And we're
inclined to agree with them.
It will be a fighting team. rug-
ged and hard-working and while
It will hardly win the district title
it will give the tana plenty of
thrills.

We've often wondered if hav-
ing a large number of lettermen
did a team as much good as many
would think.
Personally, we'd rather have a
club with about a half dozen so-
called veterans and five or six
who had come elose to making
a letter the year before.
There are several reasons. With
all respect to a high school boy

in many ways the 1932 sea-
son in baseball here was the most
successful of the five years of
organized amateur play.
For the first time there were
two leagues instead of one. The
clubs classed as having the least
chance of winning in one league
were placed together in another
loop. The plan worked admirably.
- Both leagues weer evenly bal-
anced and when the season was
over one loop was about as good
as the other.
Under the old plan when one
of the weaker teams went on the
field to play a leading club the
weaker outfit was licked before
in started Under the new plan
it felt it har as much chance
as the opposition each Ume.
