NEW TEACHERS - New teachers
for the 1993-94 school year at
Immanuel Lutheran School in
Giddings are LeAnn McClain and
If you're going to take the hand of
Jesus and walk with Him in faith,
then you're going to have to be
flexible
The path you'll be traveling won't
always be smooth and straight. It
will weave, go up and down. make
twists and go around curves
Sometimes it will even detour
Instead of looking at such a walk of
faith as something to fear, you need
to look at it as adventurous and
exciting Even though you may not
know where the pathway is leading
or what may lie ahead, you know you
can trust Christ Jesus to lead you
safely to your destination.
One of my favorite passages of
scripture is found in the Old
Testament book of Isaiah, chapter
40, verse 4:
"Every valley shall be lifted up,
and every mountain and hill be
made low; the uneven ground shall
become level, and the rough places
smooth.”
Yes, when we walk in faith, we
don’t have to worry about stumbling
and falling when we must walk
through the deep valleys of life. And
the same thing holds true when we
struggle to climb the mountains of
life to achieve various goals.
Even when we have to run quickly
on uneven ground as we make our
way along unfamiliar pathways
through life, God promises to make
the ground even and the rough
places smooth when it gets too much
for us and we feel like we can't go
any farther
After a defeat, we will have days
when we feel discouraged and
depressed But we must always
resist the temptation to give up on
life.
Through faith in God and with the
help of the Lord Jesus Christ, we can
bounce back from any failure with
new enthusiasm.
Jesus is there reaching out His
hand to pick us back up when we
stumble and fall He is there to
restore our confidence and help us to
overcome our fear of trying again.
Those who are truly walking the
walk of faith are never ultimately
defeated Sure, there are temporary
defeats But never permanent ones.
All failure really is, once we come
to view it through the eyes of Jesus,
is a detour in the road or a place
where we must find a way over or

under whatever it is that is blocking
our way.
That kind of confidence to keep
going when we are tired and weary
or frightened and depressed can
come only from Christ our Lord
At those junctures in the road of
life, we may have to pitch our tent
for a day while we look the situation
over and wait for inspiration from
God our Father before moving
forward again. But we will never
stay there for long We know it isn’t
our permanent residence and
nothing can keep us there.
God always gives us the strength
and the courage to bounce back
when we run into a roadblock and
don’t think we can get any further
He comforts us He encourages us
And most of all. He loves us
That’s all we need for our walk of
faith to continue
