morning, April 10th at 9:30 when
plans were made for the general
meeting of the combined Parent-

Program On India
Presented For Club
Mrs. Mark Mitchell, Mrs. Clyde
Matthews and Mrs. Howard Price
presented a program on India, as
part of the year’s study on “Our
Neighbor* Around the World ”
when the Rochelle Study Club met
on Monday afternoon in the home-
making rooms of Rochelle High
School.

Penn, Mrs. Troy Smith aad Miss
Ruth Watson, hostesses for the
day served refreshments to the
thirty-three members present for
the meeting.
In the business session directed
by Mrs. A. B. Scharlach in the
absence, of the president, Mrs.
Billy Moseley, the club voted to
concentrate in building up the fin-
anees of the club and other civic
work, instead of starting a club
house during the dry times this
munity is now experiencing.
Mrs. Billy Moseley and Mrs.
Scharlach are the club’s delegates
to the Sixth District Convention

Plans were made to call all par-
ents of children entering the Brady
i school system for the first time
' in September to bring their child-
ren to the Brady High School band
hall April 17 at which time Supt.
1 Whitten will advise them of the
, requirements upon entering school.
Fifteen members were in at-
tendance at this meeting.
Vivian Smith Circle
Meets On Wednesday
The Vivian Smith Circle of the
First Methodist Church met Wed-
nesday morning in the home of
Mrs. T. 0. Ericson with ten mem-
bers and one guest present.
Upon arriving the members were
served hot gingerbread topped
with whipped cream and coffee.
Mrs. Julia Wells enducted an in-
teresting quiz on the “Women of
the Bible”, and closed the study
with a prayer.
It was announced that the circle
will cooperate with the other cir-
cles in the covered dish luncheon
at the church next Tuesday, Ap-
ril 18, when the WSCS will pre-
sent a program on “Praise and
Consecration” at the same time the
General Assembly is in session in
Cleveland, Ohio.
The circle was also reminded of
the social to be given by the
Flossie Shuffield Circle Mav 8th,
entertaining the entire WSCS.
The next meeting of the circle
will be May 10 with Mrs. T. J.
Bradley for a covered dish lunch-
eon.

were Mmes. Lewis Bell, P. L. Ul-
stad. Jack Crew, Julia Wells, T. J.
Bradley, Elma Campbell, Duke
Mann. A. T .Barton, L. B. Smith
and Mrs. E. M. Jordan of Melvin
and the hostess.

Daughter Told
Mr. and Mrs. Lee Hodges of
Brady announce the engagement of
their daughter. Miss Bobby Lee,
to Mr. Lewis Jordan of Houston,
formerly of Placid. The date for
the wedding has not been set.
At present Miss Hodges is
secretary to the county judge. She
is a member of the 1949 Brady
High School graduating class
and attended the Texas State
Business School here in Brady.
Mr. Jordan is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. A. E. Jordon of Placid.
He is a graduate of Rochelle High
School and attended John Tarleton
College until he went into the
Navy where he spent a year and
a half. He is employed in the City
National Bank, and attendeds the
University of Houston at night.
