Airport expansion
loan tabled
A loan to the Austin Sky Div-
ing Center has been tabled
until the Giddings Economic
Development Corporation has
a chance to look at construct-
ing a new building rather than
adding on to an existing build-
ing.
Board member James Arndt
said his problem with adding
on to the existing hangar is
that the hanger will have to
be moved in the next few years
because of a ruling by the
FAA. He said the airport was
built according to rules by the
FAA, but they have changed
the rules along the way, and
some of the buildings are in
the glideway of the airport.
The economic board met with
Adrian May, owner and opera-
tor of the company that wishes
to locate at the Giddings-Lee
County Airport. The board
will hold an emergency meet-
ing in the next few days to con-
sider the construction.
