bring peace and tranquility to
the troubled mind - without
resorting to the kind of "help"
that can often backfire and
have unforeseen drawbacks.
When God's Spirit fills the
mind and soul, the healing pro-
cess begins immediately. And
through prayer and medita-
tion, that Spirit can grow stron-
ger - to the point where what-
ever is troubling you is soon
soothed and even blotted out.
Modem science and medicine
has been unable to cure our so-
cial ills. In fact, they have been
getting worse.
Until religion once again be-
comes a major part of the lives
of most Americans, the prob-
lems in this country aren't go-
ing to get much better.
Each of us is responsible for
our own lives and for the lives
of our children and others we
influence by our example.
Maybe we can't change every-
one in America and restore re-
ligious belief where it's no
longer present. But we can love
and trust the Living God rather
than the gods of this world who
will only let us down.
It all boils down to this com-
mand of Jesus our Saviour:
"Love the Lord your God with
all your heart and with all your
soul and with all your strength
and with all your mind" (Luke
10:27).
Those who do this rarely if
ever need to seek professional
help for overcoming mental
and psychological problems.
"For God did not give us a
spirit of timidity, but a spirit of
power, of love and a sound
mind" (2 Timothy 1:7).
