Many people are always talk;
ing about how you can tell a
really good record by the static
that can be heard while listening
to it. Well, this static usually is
caused by carelessness. A sili-
cone solution which can be
bought almost anywhere records
are sold will prolong the. life of
a record almost indefinitely. If -
you really care about your
records, a bottle of this solution
is a good investment, although it
must be applied regularly in order
to do any good.
There have been 2 auto acci-
dents near the intersection of
FM471 and Keller St. in LaCoste
quite recently. One of the mis-
haps brought serious injury to 1
person. This might be a subtle
hint that one should approach
that intersection with caution.
• A stranger walking down the
halls ofMedinaValleyHigh
School certainly would be able
to tell the popular teachers, from
those that are less appreciated
simply by the greetings that most"
of them gt from the students..
Some teachers may argue, of
course, that they're "not trying
to win a popularity contest" and
it shows, too. Sometimes it’s not
such a bad idea to get along with
the people you’re trying to teach
something to. -

A group of us was fortunate
enough to attend a performance
by th Covenant Players at St.
Mary’s University. The players
are 1 of 17 groups now touring
the country. They are a non-profit
professional' repertory troupe from
Encino, Calif. Their purpose is
, to relate the modern world with
Christianity through a series of
1-act plays and vignettes. The
Covenant Players will be back at
St. Mary’s Oct. 29-30, and are
worth the trip in.

Because of the new street
" signs in LaCoSte; driving around
.town is a real adventure. At
least, for some people it is. All
the old familiar "paths" now
have brand new shiny names
pinned to them like Medina,
Bexar and Uvalde Streets. The
road that used to be called "the
one going by the church,” now is
called D’Hanis Ave. It may be a
while before everyone gets used
to what’s happened in good old
“progressive” LaCoste.
has scheduled its 9th annual auc-
tion of 106 head of Angus, Bran-
gus, Brahman, Charolais, Here-
fords and Polled Herefords, all
ready for service. ,
Tom Walker of LaPryor, presi-
dent of the sponsoring group, said
"This is expected to be one of
the finest sales of quality stock
that has ever been offered by
some of the major breeders of
Southwest Texas. We also are for-
tunate in having a new sales barn
at Southwest Texas Junior Col-
lege where the sale will be held.
The college is 1% miles est of
Uvalde en FM 1023." I
1 The sale begins promptly at
1 p.m., with Walter Britten serv-
ing as auctioneer. The judging for
sale order will be at 8 that .morn-
. ing at the sales barn. Some of the/
animals will be on feed’prior to
the sale at the Southwest Live-
stock Exchange in North Uvalde.
Catalogues, may be obtained by '
writing or calling secretary, Dar-
rellSmith, Box 1165, Uvalde 78801
of by calling 1-278-3114.

Zoo Outing .
The Medina Valley Chapter of
Future Homemakers of America
sponsored a zoo trip for 22 chil-
dren from the Baptist Mexican
Children’s Home in San Antonio.
After a sack lunch enjoyed by
all the/, orphans and the FH A
members, the youngsters visited
the San Antonio Zoo, rode on the
train and went on the sky ride.
The FHAers reported everyone
had a most enjoyable day despite
the threatening weather.
