Zion Lutheran Church in Castro-
ville celebrated its 135th anniversary
Sunday, Jan. 25.
An attendance of 154 enjoyed the
festivities, which included former
choir members singing at the worship
service along with the current ones.
Mary Troyer of Amazing Qtace
Lutheran Church, San Antonio, sang
a’solo part of the hymn "How Great
Thou Art." Average church atten-.
dance is 120.
The church was organized Jan. 29,
1852, with 12 charter members.
Before this date, services were held
. in log cabins of the settlers.
A , loan of $400 from the Church
Building Fund of the General' Synod
was secured and construction of a
stone church was started in 1853.
Land for the church was donated by
Henri Castro, with the proviso that a

Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego.
During the 11-week training cycle,
