The journey home ended With a trip to
University Hospital Dec 15 after Castroville
residents Rhonda and Shaun Danna crashed
into a tree just before midnight, reportedly to
avoid a deer.
They escaped serious injury.
The mishap occurred at 11:47 p m as
n---drove their pickup on lower LaCoste
rond approximately one-half mile from
Castroville. Officers from the Castroville
police aa well as the Medina County Sheriff’s
Department and the Department of Public
Safety (DPS) responded
"I did not get to talk to them at the scene. I
understand that Mr Danna was trying to iniss a
deer,” DPS officer George Sisneros said. “I

speed, the yaw marks on the road run from the
curve to where they ran off ”
Yaw marks, Sisneros explained, are the tire
tracks left on the road when a vehicle tries to
stop •
“They totalled their Ford truck,” he said.
“The cause of the wreck at thia point are road
conditions and the speed they were traveling ”
Emergency personnel arrived to find the

“They were driven to their home by some-
one driving by and were transported to
University Hospital from there,” Sisneros said.
They were treated and released from
University hospital Shaun Danna, 31, was the
driver of the vehicle.

permit rules will be provided at a public
hearing at McDowell Junior High in
Hondo tonight (Thursday) at 6 p m
The hearing, the last of a series of
five held throughout the fAA’i area, is
designed to gather input from water
users on the proposed new rules for
pumping permits. EAA Public
Information Officer Tammy Valentine
said
“We’ll gather the public Comment
from all the hearings and present it to
the board at their Jan. 13 meeting."

nearly $100,000 to install two com-
puter programs, a move the board
president said will never happen
again
The Bexar Medina-Atascosa
Water Control and Improvement
District (BMA) spent a total of
$98,000 over a three-year period to
install computer programs Excell
and QuickBooks Pro, according to
district financial records
