The ML Pleasant Tigers steed
their height to the fullest ad-
vantage Tuesday night as they
defeated the Greenville Lions by
a 73 to 60 score at Brice Gym
The Tigers controlled both back-
boards and used a strong finish
to post teir win.
The tightly fought contest was
tied 13 times and the lead chahg-
ed hands nine times before the
Tigers finally took command at
43 to 42 and gradually widened
their margin. At one time, just
before the game ended, the Tigers
were out in front by 15 points.
Greenville took the lead in the
early stages of. the contest, but
they never led more. than six
points. By the end of the first
frame the visitors held a 16 to
14 lead, but the Tigers fought
back and held a two point. 33 to
31 lead at intermission.

wich was top with 15 points and
he was followed closely by Ed
Treadway with' 14.
The defensive play of Bill
Hooten and Ablowich, ball steal-
ing guards, kept the Lion* in the
contest. The two had nine steals
to their credit
The win placed the Tigers in
fourth place in the District 6.

Meeting Tuesday
Mrs. Bird Old, Jr., and Mrs.
Gordon Brock were hostesses to
the Twentieth Century Club
Tuesday afternoon, When four-
teen members gathered at the
Brock home for a delightful
musical program. Arrangements
of pink gladioli were used in the
entertaining rooms.
Program guests were the thea-
ter group of the Euterpean Club,
composed of, Mrs. A. C. Ander-
son, Mrs. Frank Palmer, Mrs
Kenneth Sleigh, Mrs. Hardin
Whitaker. Mrs. J. S. Kennedy,
accompanist, and Mrs. R. B.
Palmer, narrator.
..The group presented the
■ Rodgers and Hammerstein musi-
cal, “Carousel". Some of the
better known selections includ;
cd, by the group were, "If: I
Loved You," “June is Bustin' Out
All Over" and"Hold Your Head
Up High." The performance was
■ -enthusiastically received and re-
quests for a return of the group
- -were-veiced, .
The club was dismissed with

of the seauon. Tuesday night, to
Paris, by a close 42 to 40 score
at Gainesville. Ronnie Kyle paced
the winners with 14 points, fol-
lowed by Jackson with 12.
Latham was bigh for Gainesville
with 16 points.
Sulphur Springs defeated Me-
Kinney by a 49 to 36 score at
McKinney. Watson led Sulphur
Springs yith 12 points, follow-
ed by Ward with H. Mitchell
and Stewart were high for Mc-
Kinney with if and 10 points
respectively.
7 Tuesday night's games ended
the first half of play and the
second roud is due to begin
Friday night.
