Miss Judy Dafter, who has at-
tended the Mt. Pleasant High
School this year, has been accept-
ed for entrance to the high school
division of Gulf Park College in
Gulfport, Miss , beginning in Sep-
tember. This year Gulf Park has
students from 28 different states

Party Honors Ninth
Grade Graduates
Members of the ninth grade
graduating class were honored by
their mothers with a party at the
Country Club Thursday evening
Class colors of gold and white
were used in decorations through-
out dub.
The refreshment table was laid
with a gold cloth and centered with
a large arrangement of white gla-
diolus. Six lighted tall white tap-

Carol was valedictorian of her
class, and her words were a part
of her address to the graduates,
and to the parents and friends
assembled to see the class re-
ceive its diplomas.
In addition. Carol voiced her
appreciation to her teachers for
their cooperation, and to parents
of the graduates. Without the
cooperation of all these, the class
would not have been able to ac-
complish much, she declared.
The graduation exercises were
held in the old gymnasium.
» The salutatory was by Jeanetta
Pope, who was second among the
graduates this year.
Diplomas were presented by
Harold Richardson, president of
the school board, and by C. A
Robison, principal of the Junior
high school
Music for the program was pro-
vided by the eighth grade choir,
and by Carolyn Shankle. They
were accompanied at the piano
by Cathy Spencer.
Priscilla Barnard played the
processional as the graduates fil-
ed in, and the reccessional was
played by Linda Gage.
Invocation and benediction
were pronounced by the Rev
Chester Phillipa, pastor of Tenni-
son Memorial Methodist Church
Following the exercises, the
class was entertained at a party
at Mt Pleasant Country Club.

Youth To Meet
Saturday Night
The regular monthly meeting of
the Hopewell Baptist Youth Fel-
lowship will be Saturday night at
7:15 at Nevils Chapel.
New officers will be elected and
all are urged to atend. Visitors

Receives Degree
BRISTOL Va. — Miss Cecelia
Latimer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
W. Dan Latimer, Mt. Pleasant, was
graduated June 2 from Sullins Col-
lege, Bristol, Va., with the Asso-
ciate in Arts degree.
Miss Latimer has been active in
many campus activities, including
House Council Sullins Players and
Science Club. She will reign as
Princess of May at the annual May
Festival this week-end.
Graduation exercises were held
in the Sylvan Theatre on the Sul-
lins campus at 6 o'clock Sunday
evening. Dr. Paul W. Worley of
Emory University, Atlanta Ga.,

onstration Club met Tuesday in
the home of Mrs. John Hall.

Chapel Hill Home Demonstra-
tion Club sponsored family night
which was a big success. They
will sponsor another family night
June 29, in the home of Mr. and
Mrs. J. O. Freeman.
Chapel Hill voted to postpone
the meeting which was set for
June 11. They voted to have an
all day meeting in the home of
Mrs. H. M. Bozell on June 25. The

of Tennison Memorial Methodist
Church Monday afternoon for a
business meeting and program.

Cartwright, called the meeting

the cooperation of the women.

group in a song service, followed
by a prayer led by Mrs. Clayton

Path." Mrs. Ben Scott, Mrs. Jack
