a special gift to a particular
need in the work of the ch-
urch. This year’s gift will
help equip a conference cen-
ter for the Presbyterian Ch-
urch of Portugal, and build a
hospital in the Congo. La
Grange’s particular interest
in this project is due to the
fact that the Rev. Frank Mc-
Elroy, pastor of the Presby-
terian Church,1 has a youn-
ger sister who is a nurse in
the medical teaching facili-
ties at Pshikaji, Congo, wh-
ere the hospital will be built,
to serve the sic Congolese
and to train native medical
workers.

Also Friday, Jimmy Lynn
Hohensee was convicted for
murder with a motor vehicle
in the January 11, 1969, death
of Eddie Koopmann of Flato-
nia. Hohensee’s car was on
the wrong side of the road
when in collision with the
Koopmann vehicle on FM
Road 609, fatally injuring
Mr. Koopmann. Hohensee
was given five years proba-
tion and special condition
that he not drive a motor ve-
hicle for one year.

Clubs will kick off their sixth
annual Radio Auction Wed-
nesday at four o’clock over

Passes Away

Funeral services for Mrs.
Georgia Croft Rives of Win-
chester, who celebrated her
100th birthday on January 23
of this year, were held Fri-
day, May 9, at 2:00 PM. at
the Koenig Funeral Home
Chapel with Rev. Clarence
Oestreich of La Grange of-
ficiating. Burial was in the
Winchester City emetery.
Mrs. Rives pagsed away
Funeral services for Otto
Luedeker, 77, of New Ulm
will be held Tuesday, May 13,
at 3:30 P.M. at the Shelby
Lutheran Church with Rev.
Henry J. Schulte, Jr,, offi-
dating. Burial will be in
the Shelby Cemetery.
Mr. Ludeker passed aw-
ay Sunday in the Bellville
Hospital.
He was born in Austin -
County on July 8, 1991, the
son of August and Henrietta
Melcher Luedeker, and was
married to Hattie Rudlof on
December 14, 1919, at Wel-
come. A retired farmer
and World War I veteran, he
was a member of the Amer-
ican Legion and a lifelong
resident of Austin County.
Survivors include Ills wite
of Industry; one daughter,
Mrs. Waldo (Jeanette)Moel-
ler of Brenham; one son,
Waldo Luedeker of Industry;
six grandchildren; and one
great-grandchild.
Mr. Luedeker will remain
at the Zaskoda Chapel in In-
dustry until 130 P.M. Tues-
day.
