...............We say a great big THANK
YOU to those 12 people who are
enrolled in the EMT course going
on at the school......these "unsung
heroes" are often taken for granted
for the wonderful work they do
year round......on call and ready in
an emergency.....we appreciate it!
.........summertime just will not
let up in this part of the southwest,
with high temperatures over 100
degrees for a couple of weeks now,
drying winds and NO RAIN!..........
on the other hand, the poor resi-
dents in the midwest have been de-
vastated with floods, deaths and
destruction of property......so we
can still count our blessings...........
........it was good to see the good
turnout at the Chamber of Com-
merce meeting at Rosita's last
week......and to hear the positive
talk to work on various projects
and improvements for Dell City
.......The Chamber will put on a
fireworks show July 4, and will
sell hot dogs and homemade ice
cream.......James Evans and Frank
Archuleta are doing a beautiful
job on the inside of the Communi-
ty building......we hope that every-
one will respect this 'new" build-
ing, and show appreciation by see-
ing that at each use, the building
is highly maintained........we com-
mend those "unsung heroes" too
who give so much time to look af-
ter this building.............the trees
at the fairgrounds are getting a
good soaking since emitters have
been installed - thanks to Dale
Flach.....you can almost see the
trees growing now!.......................
what an asset the trees will be to
the fairgrounds......DON'T FOR-
GET the CORNUDAS CHILI
COOKOFF this weekend, June
23-24..........it is a benefit for the
Hueco Fire Department- a good
cause.............................
DELL
VALLEY
We wish Grady Collier well following surgery this week at Sun Towers.
He was having a vein replacement in his leg. It's amazing what medical
technology is today.
Helen Rascoe is home from surgery at Sierra Medical. We are glad she
is recuperating nicely and had to be in the hospital only three days.
Bonnie and Linda Lynch drove in from New York to Dell City on June
14 - taking several days to enjoy the trip, and visiting friends and rela-
tives along the way. Linda has moved back to the southwest for awhile
and is happy to have a change of pace from the big city. Bonnie re-
turned to Austin where she lives on Saturday, June 16. The Lynch fami-
lies will gather in Dell City July 20-21-22 for the every-two-year Lynch
reunion in the valley.
Enjoying the Cherry Festival in Cloudcroft last weekend were Paul and
Mary Gentry, and granddaughter, Kate, and Mary's mother, Florence
Etcheverry. This weekend, Denny, Connie, Lacee and Audra will be vi-
siting in Dell City from Albuquerque.
***
Carmen Gentry's mother, Kay Kelly, is home from the hospital follow-
ing surgery in Earth, Texas. Carmen, Melvin and the boys have been
in Earth while Mrs. Kelly was hospitalized, but returned to Dell City
on Sunday.
***
Kirt Bell was at Chamber this past week, and seems to be doing real well -
even doing a lot of walking and bicycle riding. His son Matt, a 1990 gradua-
te of Dell City will be attending Wayland Baptist College . Ray Gallegos
also a senior graduate, will be going to Tarleton. State

When our minds are truly open
to the flow of thought, ideas
seem to pop up from everywhere.
If you have an idea that seems
particularly good to you, don't
be discouraged if someone else
doesn't happen to see its value.
Remember that it is your idea.
You conceived of it. You are
the one who must bring it into
fruition. How many times have
you observed someone with a
new idea having difficulty con-
vincing others that it had any
value? With persistence and
determination he proved them
wrong. Remember this the next
time a new idea comes your way.
