some filming of scenes for the movie "Blue Sky", starring Jessica Lange and Tommy Lee Jones. This
area was chosen due to the similarity between the area and parts of Nevada used in the early 1960's

through the area several times. He is Production Associate for the filming of the movie.
The top picture showing "Nevada Test Site" was once "El Paso Natural Gas Camp", chanced
for the filming, simulating El Paso Natural Gas Camp in the background as a nuclear power plant.
The lower picture shows a scene following a simulated bomb test - talcum powder was shot off by
dynamite. A total of 130 cast and crew members stayed in Van Horn throughout the week's filming.
