Enya, 40, was born Eithne Ni Bhraonain in Gweedore, Ireland,
to a large musical family. The fourth of nine children, she was
still a teen when three siblings formed the band Clannad in
1976 with their uncles. The band was popular, and Enya joined
as a keyboardist in 1980. She stayed with them for two years
before embarking on a solo career, recording scores to movies
and television. Music from the BBC television series The Celts
was released as an album under the name Enya in 1986. Her
sophomore album, Watermark, launched Enya as the top New
Age musician she is now. She sings, writes, and plays the key-
board on her albums, which have sold nearly 50 million copies
worldwide. The music released under her name is a collabo-
ration between her, producer Nicky Ryan, and lyricist Roma
Ryan, Enya says. Her music has been featured in several films,
including Far and Auay and Age of Innocence. In February, she
received an Oscar nomination for the song May it Be from
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.

Q Where is the singer Enya from! Does she
play any instruments?

Q Where was the wrestler and actor known
as The Rock born? What can you tell me about
his family?
—Chrishauna H., Arkansas
The Rock grew up in Miami, Fla., as Dwayne Johnson. His
father, Rocky Johnson, and grandfather. High Chief Peter
Maivia, were famous wrestlers. Johnson didn’t become The
Rock until 1996, using his 6-foot-5-inch, 275-pound bulk
to play semipro football instead. Wrestling was in his blood,
though, and he burst on the scene to an arena full of boos
and hisses as Rocky Maivia. His charisma and bravado
eventually won over the crowd, and he became a fan favorite.
As he became more popular, Hollywood noticed, and he
was cast as the Scorpion King in The Mummy Returns. The
filmmakers were so impressed they put together a movie
based on the character, written specifically for The Rock.
The Scorpion King is slated for release April 19- The Rock,
29, splits his time between Miami and Los Angeles. His
wife, Dany, a financial planner, gave birth to their first
child, a girl, last August.
Q I enjoyed the performance of Arnold
Vosloo as the mummy in The Mummy and The
Mummy Returns. How old is he? Is he married?
What else has he been in?
—Cherlyn L., South Dakota
