Aggravated Robbery
• On Tuesday, May 28, at approx-
imately 12:30 p.m., an Alvin Police
Officer was dispatched to a local
grocery store in reference to an
aggravated robbery.
According to the police report, the
officer arrived at the parking lot of
the store and was met by a woman
who claimed that she was approach-
ing her vehicle, when she was
struck on the back of the neck by an
unknown or unseen suspect. She
stated that she fell to the ground,
where she hit her face on the pave-
ment. She also claimed that the sus-
pect took her purse, which con-
tained approximately $2,000 in
cash, her jewelry,.and other assorted
items.
The woman could provide no fur-
ther information about the incident,
and the officer noted that he
checked the back of the victim’s
neck and the area of her face where
she was hurting, but did not see any
redness or swelling.
The officer went into the store to
see if there were any witnesses but
was unsuccessful.

duty Manvel officer had followed
the suspect, identified as Martin
Garcia Castro, 39, into the drive-
thru lane.
According to the police report, the
officer arrived, and was met by the
off-duty officer, who stated that he
witnessed Castro speeding down
Sealy Street.
He estimated that the driver was
going approximately 60 mph, in a
30 mph speed zone. The Manvel
officer also stated that the truck
straddled the center divider as it
passed him. When the Alvin police
officer approached the vehicle, he
noticed a strong smell of alcohol
coming from the cab of the pickup
truck.
He then asked the suspect to exit
his vehicle, and’hoticed that the man
was unsteady on his feet, had glassy
and bloodshot eyes, had slow and
deliberate speech, and leaned
against the truck to maintain his bal-
ance. While speaking to Castro, the
officer continued to smell the alco-
hol on him. The officer also noted
that the intoxicated driver had a
child in the truck with him. Castro
was placed under arrest for public
intoxication and transported to
