The public is invited to visit the
newly-renovated and remodeled
Alvin Post Office, which will house
the Alvin Historical Museum, on
Saturday, Aug. 9 at 2 p.m.
“We are having what is known as a
‘soft’ opening, which means that it .is
an opportunity ftir the public to sae^b
work that the city has done to renovate
the facility for the museum. The
exhibits are being designed and will
be installed later,” said Cleo
Congrady, president of the Alvin
Museum Society. > ‘
“We also want to recognize and
thank the mayor, the councilmemhets
and staff of the City of Alvin for their
support of this important project,” she
added.
Recognition will also be given to
the architects and contractor of the
renovated facility. “We hope that the
viewing will help build interest in the
museum, enlist volunteers, and pro-
mote the fundraising opportunities
that will fund the exhibits,” Congrady
said.
The members also help the fire
department with dean up.
The fire department has been
given some land for a new fire
station on FM 1128 and
