announcement of Mrs. Bettye Duck-
worth that she is a candidate for re-
election to the office of tax assessor
of Wise county. Mrs. Duckworth is
serving her first term, and according

Chamber of Commerce is approach-

effort to date to have highway No. 2
reconstructed thru Wise county, as
was recently evidenced by the appro-
val by the federal bureau of the con-
tract let by the state highway com-
mission for the concrete surfacing of
about two miles of the highway thru
Decatur, and. further, by authoriza-
tion just received by Administrator
Helm's office to select from the em-
ployment roles 69 men for assignment
to work on this state and federal
job. The contract price calls for an
expenditure of about $80,000 and
