FBI joins in probe
of 4 murders in
Austin County
The FBI has joined in the in-
vestigation of the murders of
four Austin County residents
near Bellville on Nov. 14.
No arrests have been made so
far in the murders of Wil
Stetenpohl, 86,; Ray Paine, 81;
Aldon Schiller, 67; and Bernice
Stetenpohl Schiller, 62.
Their bodies were found in
Will Stetenpohl’s small mobile
home near the Raccoon Bend
community northeast of
Bellville. All four had been shot
to death.
Austin County Sheriff Bubb
Brzozowski said the four were
found on top of each other in
the bedroom.
"It appeared that they fell on
top of each other," the sheriff
said. "It also appears that they

were trying to hide in the bed
room but I"m really not sure of
that either."
Sheriff Brzozowski said it did
not appear that robbery was a
motive for the crime because
nothing was taken from the
home. He said there was a lot
of money left in the house.
The wallets and everything
was still in the house and all
the vehicles were still there, he
said.
He also said there appeared to
be a struggle in the home since
a broken .22 caliber rifle was
found on the floor near the vic-
tims.
Although the sheriff said he
didn't think the .22 rifle was
the major weapon, he said it
could have possibly been used,
maybe by the victims to protect
themselves during the
struggle.
