Basketball shooting
contest set for Dec. 7
The Giddings Lady Buffs Ath-
letic will be hosting a basket-
ball skill shooting contest at
Giddings Middle School gym
Saturday, Dec. 7. beginning at
1 p.m. It will be for Lee County
kids ages 8-14.
Hoop Challenge U.S.A, is
searching for the best basket-
ball shooters in the state. If you
score high enough you can ad-
vance to the 2nd round of com-
petition and receive a medal.
The competition includes four
rounds, with a state champion
being crowned in each age
group for both boys and girls.
Everyone who enters receives a
free t-shirt.
The contest will raise money
for local athletes through the
$12 entry fee. If interested con-
tact Marie Nelms at 542-2845.

Region 18 band competition
held Saturday, Nov. 16.
Jamie, a Giddings Middle
School student, competed
with about 80 flute players
and earned 2nd chair in the
symphonic band. Jamie also
represented Giddings when
she attended the Region 18
District Band Clinic and
Concert held at Southwest
Texas State University in
San Marcos two weeks ago.

Lee Co. foster children
The citizens of Lee County
are invited to help provide a
meaningful Christmas for the
foster children of Lee County.
The Lee County Child Pro-
tective Service Board has
placed angel gift trees in the
lobby of First National Bank,
Wells Fargo Bank and
Brookshire Bros. Citizens are
urged to stop by and pick up
an "Angel Gift Card" from the
trees.
After you have purchased
the suggested gift, people
should return it to the gift tree
with the right portion of the
"Angel Card" attached to the
gift and wrap the gifts if pos-
sible.
Gift trees will remain in the
banks till Dec. 16. The gifts
will be picked up by the board
