Tasha McDaniel earned
three medals at the regional
meet Besides the gold medal
she earned on the relay team,
she won t he silver in the triple
jump and bronze in the 200
meter dash. She will be a state
alternate in this event.
The girls will compete in the
UIL State Track and Field
Meet Saturday. May 15. Tasha
w ill jump at 9 a.m. Saturday.
The running events will begin
at 11 a.m. with the 400 meter
relay the first race of the meet.
Also participating in the re-
gional meet were Heather
Westbrook, sophomore, in the
800 meter run; and Chris
Pampell, senior, in the discus.

school track team tied for first
place in the Region II1-3 A
track meet held Saturday.
The girls track team placed
seventh out of 21 teams.
In the boys meet, Jason
Hodge placed first in the 100
meter dash with a time of
10.85. He placed third in the
200 meter dash.

found slain at home
behind his church
A Weimar minister and his
wife were found slain Sunday
in their home located behind
the church where he was pas-
tor.
The 200 members of the
Weimar United Church of
Christ learned that Pastor Skip
Simic and his wife Karen were
dead after the couple didn't ar-
rive for Sunday morning ser-

Jennifer Harper, a senior,
earned two gold medals. She
placed first in the 100 meter
dash. She went into the re-
gional meet with the third
best time. Jennifer is also the

A College Station vehicle was
involved in a traffic accident

miles north of ’Giddings on the
eastbound Texas 21 entrance
ramp near the intersection
with U.S. 77.
A 1996 Chevrolet Blazer-
driven by Cynthia Gail
Hutchins, 26, of( ’allege Stat ion
was traveling north on U.S. 77
and turned right onto the
eastbound entrance ramp to
Texas 21 when the driver lost
control, swerved back and
fourth and turned over on its
top.
Both the driver and a passen
ger, Paul Smith, 21, of College
Station, sustained cuts and
bruises and were taken to the
Caldwell hospital by B&M Am
bulance.
