Letter to the Editor
Dear Editor:
I read an article in the
Giddings Times & News dated
January 28, 1999 about a pro-
posed water park to be built in
Lee County.
I think this is a good idea be-
cause a water park would cre-
ate jobs for local people and
would also provide a good en-
tertainment spot for local
youth. However, I saw nothing
in the article about plans for

Christians must be as compassionate and willing to forgive as Christ was
during His life. He was forgiving even at the point where He faced the
earthly end of His existence. The scriptures teach that forgiveness is to be
extended to be received, and in fact is to be generously extended (Matthew
6:12, 14 15; 18:21.35; Mark 11:25; 2 Corinthians 2:7). A personal attitude
of forgiveness and the desire that all would experience forgiveness is a natural
result of being like Christ (Luke 23:34). In a future article we'll talk more
about the lessons learned in Christ's forgiving nature demonstrated at the
cross. Every Christian should be as willing to forgive another no matter
how bad or deeply they may have been hurt by the one who is the object of
our forgiveness. Some times the question is asked. "Should I forgive some
one even though they do not repent ’"
if you mean do we as forgivers have a responsibility to readily forgive, of
course we do. But if you mean, can a person be forgiven as in being re-
leased from the penalty of sin. without repenting, the answer is no. In the
Christian age in which we live everyone has to change their mind about sin
to be pleasing to God, in fact He commands man to repent in Acts 17:30
Look at the conditional statement in Luke 17:3. "Take heed to yourselves
ll your brother sins against you, rebuke him, and ij he repents, forgive him
(Luke 17:3). Jesus forgives those who repented (Acts 2:38). One Christian
brother of mine put it this way. "forgiveness is the acceptance of a relation
ship that existed before the sin" We must ever be ready to forgive and we
must entertain no malice or bitterness in our hearts
Do you want to be forgiven by God ’ First you need to succeed spiritu
ally by becoming one of God's people. Our souls success lies in realizing
that we are saved by the grace ot God through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ,
when we access that grace and we contact the blood in obedience to God's
will We contact that cleansing blood not in the Communion or Lord's Sup
per. but when we are baptized by immersion, for the remission of sins. In
spite of what you may have heard, when we are baptized we are not trusting
in the water; we are trusting in the operation or working of God (Colossians
2:12).
You are invited to attend all the services at the Church of Christ at 424
South Chambers Street. We meet each Sunday at 9:30 AM tor Bible Classes

obtaining water for this project
What quantity of water is re-
quired to sustain a water park?
I hope that careful planning
will be done before this park is
built to ensure ample water for
the everyday needs of other
businesses and local citizens. I
think this is essential for the
good of our citizens and the suc-
cess of a water park.
