The new farm program is designed
to give agriculture a place of equality
in the national picture. No thinking
person can deny the need for such
a program. Anyone with even a short
memory can recall the days of five
<*ent cotton and twenty cent wheat,
of ten cent corn and three cat-
tie. These prices wrecked not only

wrecked industry as well.
The well being of agriculture is
necessary if the nation is to prosper,
and it is the well-being of agricul-
ture that is the purpose of the farm
program.
The new legislation contains the
following features:
(1) It continues the soil conserva-
tion program, improved mid simpifi-
ed. Every man. woman mid child in
America is interested in the conser-
ration of the soil.
(2) It provides a fund out of tariff
collections to be used in the building
up of foreign markets for farm pro-
ducts, as well as for widening the
