showed an increase of $272 million
over deposits recorded a year ago,
according to the monthly business
barometer compiled by the Valley
Chamber of Commerce.
Of total deposits of $6,003,
661,026, banks accounted for

loan associations for $1,654,911,686.

This Public Hearing is called

1983. Ordinance #83-33 establishes
certain minimum standards for
buildings, and declares that any
building failing to meet these
Standards constitutes a public
nuisance. The City Building
Inspector conducted an inspection
of the building in question, and his
report details numerous violations
of the minimum standards estab-
lished in the Condemnation
Ordinance. Copies of this report
and Ordinance #83-33 are available
at City Hall, 400 South Ohio Ave.,
Mercedes, Texas.
At the Public Hearing, evidence
and arguments will be presented
before the Condemnation Hearing
Board concerning the condition of

hearing it may be ordered repaired

Utility connections showed
modest increases over last year.
Electrical connections numbered
210,871 at the end of July this year,
and 203,739 last year.
Gas connections were 65,983
this July and 65,431 last year, and
main line telephone connections
totaled 209,182 this year, up from
200,065 last year.
Airline boardings numbered
Pvt. 1st Class Jesus Trevino,
son of Carlos G. and Olivia S.
Trevino of La Feria, has completed
the Lance missile crewman course
under the one station unit training
(OSUT) program at Fort Sill,
Oklahoma.
During the course, students
were taught to perform mainten-
ance on the Lance missile and to
prepare it for firing. They also were
given driving instructions for
transporting the missile.
OSUT is a program that
combines basic training with
advanced individual training.
