This is not Schwarz’s first work
with Shuttle projects. To mention two
instances, he had been involved with
the underwater training astronauts
undergo to prepare them for space
walks, and he had a hand in preparing
the Manned Maneuvering Unit that
was tested on a previous flight.
His brother, Jason, is also involved
in the aerospace industry, as an em-
ployee of McDonnell Douglas in St.
Louis, while another brother, Richard,
is in Boston employed in the manufac-
ture of medical lasers. Two sisters,
Linda and Barbara, still live in
Mercedes.
Another Mercedes man, Paul
Reyes, is also involved in the project
as an employee of McDonnell Dou-
glas. When we can findout more about
his work, we’ll pass that along.
And now, when you hear more
about Endeavor and its ASEM hard-
ware, you’ll be able to say there’s a
link to Mercedes and one of your neigh-
bors, and maybe feel just a little closer
to the stars.
