York to be guests of their father Dr.

Mrs. S. P. Cunningham and little
daughter. Sue Elmore Cunningham
have gone to Huntsville to spend the
holidays with relatives.
The Alpha Beta Chapter of the
Delta Sigma Upsilon fraternity en-
tertained with a dinner dance at the
St. Anthony Hotel Monday evening
dancing commencing at 9 o’clock and
lasting until 2. The ballroom and
tapestry room were adorned with
growing plants and masses of vio-
lets green and purple being the
chapter colors. Also there were
large flags placed at intervals about
the walls to give the military touch.
The dinner march was led by Earl
McGoldrick president of the club
and Miss Mamie Ray of Pettus. Ta-
bles were arranged In the tapestry
room each seating three couples.
Bowls pf fern and violets adorned the
tables.
The dance programs were in the
form of booklets bound in red satin
those of the girls having black silk
cords to which were attached vanity
cases and mirrors while those of the
boys were fashioned with pockets
which held gold-tipped cigarettes
Upon the fly leaf were crossed flags
of the United States interwoven with
the words "Merry Christmas” while
the flags of the allies interwoven
with the words "Happy New Year"
adorned the last page. The names of
the officers and the schedule of
dances were attractively lettered.
Twenty straight and six extra dances
were recorded the extras being
najned for the members in the army:

Soldiers Prevent Arrest.—After;
Detectives Cook and Foster had lo- t
rated the whereabouts of a 15-year-
old girl reported to have run away|
from home several days ago nearly
half a hundred soldiers the officers
reported prevented them from tak-
ing the girl into custody at 10:30*
o’clock Monday night. The girl was| (
found at a skating rink. Detectives

Field Artillery has returned to San
Antonio to spend Christmas. Dur-
ing the last few weeks Major Tobin
has been attending the school of
fire conducted by the government at
the artillery range at Fort Sill.
Okla. Accommodations have been
provided there for 1200 officers and
they are being trained in artillery
practice by French officers assigned
for that purpose.
