Friday Final Day
For Applying for
Colton Adjustment
Lee County cotton producers
have through Friday, April 28,
to make application for adjust-
ment and make their final appeal
on 1950 cotton allotment, accord-
ing to Warren D. Moody, secre-
tary of the Lee County PMA.
A check of PMA records re-
veals the fact that many Lee
County cotton and peanut pro-
ducers are benefiting by recent
legislation passed by Congress
and signed by the president. Mr.
Moody reported earlier this week
that the county had gained some
1 thousand acres of peanuts and
something over 1 thousand acres
of cotton.
Mr. Moody reported that a
small number of producers had
surrendered their 1950 cotton al-
lotments to the County PMA
committee for reapportionment.
The law provides that acreage
voluntarily surrendered by cot- •
ton producers shall be reappor-
tioned by the county committee
only when the acreage surrend-
ered exceeds (is greater than)

Cancer Control
Depends on
Drive Success
Continued progress in Texas
Cancer Control work is depend-
ent upon the success of the 1950
Cancer Crusade which is being
held in Lee County April 25
through 30, Mrs. Robert Falke
Jr., chairman, declared this
week.
The Lee County Unit is seek-
ing at least $552 as its share of
the $500,000 state goal.
“The attack on Cancer,” Mrs.
Falke said, "has made definite
progress during the past five
years."
Progress has been in three di-
rections:
• The building of a nation-
wide organization for Cancer
Control.
• The greatest peacetime re-
search effort in history. '
• The expansion of a program
to alert people to Cancer while
it is still curable.
