___The annual Senior - Junior -
Picnic was rained out last Fri-
day May 15, and a party was
held in the gym that evening.
After a picnic supper of
chicken salad sandwiches, po-
tato chips homemade cookies
and sodawater the students
danced to the;music of a rec-
ord player. .
Any erroneous reflection upon
the character, standing or reputa-
tion of any firm, corporation or in-
dividual published in the columns
of this paper will be cheerfully
corrected when brought to our at-
tention.
We will also appreciate the giv-
ing of any news items, the names
of visitors at your home or the
names of any members going away
on a visit. This will help to in-

The Senior Class of ‘53 left Tues-
day morning on their trip. They
expected to make Baton Rouge, La.
their first stop and New Orleans,
their destination.
Supt. and Mrs. Don Slocomb ac-
companied them in a school bus,
with Mr. Alfred Sanders, driving.

Officer Callahan was reading a
blood-curdling detective mystery
in bed one night when suddenly he
saw the outline of, a hand come
over the foot of the bed.
"If you dont move by the time I
count three” ordered Callahan,
•‘I’ll shoot.”
With that he counted one, two-
three, and then - - bang! He shot
off three of his- toes.

A department store floorwalker
thoroughly fed up with his job,
quit and joined the police force.
When asked why, he explained:
“The pay and the hours may not
be so good, but at least the custo-
mer is always wrong.

Charles Krakosky of Houston
and Warda left early Tuesday mor-
ning for induction center to be as-
signed.
Those spending awhile with
Charles Monday evening in the M.
H. Krakosky hom-e were: Mr. and
Mrs. Martin Mitschke and Miss An-
nie Mae, Miss Irene Krakosky and
Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Tschatschula,
who still are very close to Charles,
he having boarded with them sev-
eral years while attending school
at Giddings.
Hostess To Shower ...
Mrs. O. P. Hielscher was hostess
Friday afternoon from 4 to 6 P. M.
at a shower honoring Mrs. Ver-
nell Kruemcke at her home in
Southwest Giddings. Those en-
joying the hospitality were: Mrs.
Wm. Kruemcke, Mrs. Johnnie and
Henry Christiansen, Mrs. Paul
Spitzenberger, Mrs. Herm, and
Emil Kuehn, irs. Bill and Eddie
Hoffman, Mrs. Walter and Carl
Droemer, Miss Dorothy Weiss, Miss
Joan Grimm, Mrs. Chas. Tschat-
schula, Mrs. Louis Gaeke, the hon-
oree Mrs. Vernelle Kruemcke and
the hostess Mrs. Hielscher. The
honoree was the recepient of many
pretty gifts for which she graci-
ously thanked each lady. Others
sent gifts who were unable to at-
tend in person.
