contest is blue-eyed Mary Lou
Holliday of Galveston. ‘T he pre' y
contestant, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. E. S. Holliday, is a teacher in
the Galveston school system. She is
a graduate of the University of
Texas, where she majored in ele-
mentary education and English.
The Texas beauty was named
junior queen of the Calveston
Mardi Gras In 1935 and in 1050
represented Galveston as princess
at the Texas Mardi Gras. She now
is serving as president of the Gal-
veston Cotillion Club and is a m n-
ber of the Junior League At the
university, she was active in Alpha
Phi sorority and was a campus
leader.
The Maid of Cotton contest dead-
line is midnight, December 1, ac-
cording to the National Cotton
Council. All entries must be post-
marked before this date. Any girl
born in a cotton-producing state
who is between the ages of 19-25,
has never been married, and is at
least 5 feet 5 inches tall is eligible
to enter. Entry forms and contest
details are available from National
Cotton Council, Box 18, Memphis, |
Tenn.
The girl selected Maid of Cotton
will make a six-month international
fashion and good will tour for the
cotton industry She will visit more
than 40 cities in the United States.
Europe, and Canada. To equip her
for her role of "fashion ambas-
sadress" for King Cotton, the Maid
will be outfitted with a glamorous
all-cotton wardrobe by 40 top
American designers.
Mr. and Mrs. Gerhard Kilian
of Lincoln, accompanied by their
daughters Misses Gertrude and
Irene of Austin, visited with
Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Ludolph
Pastor Max Studtmann will
preach in the 8:30 a. m. service
at Immanuel Lutheran Sunday.

Outside the main entrance is
an 18-foot figure of Christ,
arms and hands extended in an
inviting gesture. The church
has a $36,650 organ with 2,203
individual pipes, hundreds of
which are in full sight of the
worshippers. The building cost
$500,000. The Rev. Oliver
Harms is pastor.
