dings High School. He enlisted un-
der the Navy’s High School Grad-
uate Training Program choosing
the Electronic Field as his choice
of training. Upon completion of
his leave be will report to the Fire
Control Technician School at San
Diego, Calif. for Intensive instruc-
tion involving the complicated
Electronic equipment aboard Naval
ships.
While on leave Seaman Hurst
will reside at the home of his mo-
ther, Mrs. Bessie V. Hurst of
Paige, Texas.

In Veteran’s Hospital
Johnny Mutschink, who has been
under the local doctor’s care here
to rthe past year left Wednesday
for Houston to enter the Veter-
ans Hospital. A speedy recovery
is wished for him. •
Moved To La Grange
Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Creighton
who have been living here in the
country for the past several years
moved to La Grange lately to
make their home and to be near
his work. They leased the old
Meyenberg Homestead and open-
ed up their Photographic Studios
in the downstairs and »re living
upstairs. Their country place is
for sale and is ideally located for
any couple wanting to live in re-
tirement.
Mrs. Josephie Biar Passes Away
Your reporter learned only Sun-
day that Mrs. Josephie Roberts
Biar of Dallas, passed away un-
expectedly several weeks ago.
She was the widow of the late
Herman Biar Jr of Dallas and
the daughter of the late Rev. and
Mrs E. M. Roberts, former pas-

Theodore Teinert, well known
farmer and member of Holy Cross
Lutheran Church, Warda; passed
away Saturday and’ funeral ser-
vices were held at Holy Cross

Miss Carolyn Faye Weiser mo-
tored to Austin Saturday after-
noon on business.
Herman Lehmann (Hamick) of
Warda who has been playing ball
on the Warda team since he was
knee-high to a duck had the mis-
fortune of being struck in the head
by a ball and has not been feeling
well since. This happened sev.
eral weeks ago.
Miss Emma Mertink of Serbin
has been suffering with severe
backache for several weeks and
an xray the past week shows she
has a cracked bone. It is hoped
she will soon be better.
Friends of Herman Bigon were
glad to see him at church Sunday
again. Mr. Bigon suffered a heart
attack earlier this year and was
confined to his home all this time
It is hoped he continues to Im-
prove.
The following spent awhile Sun-
day afternoon with the O. P.
Hielschers and Miss Velma at
Giddings. The Bill Graebers of
Carmine, the Albert Lorenz’s of
Winchester, Mrs. Herman Hiel-
scher and Mrs. C. A. Paulick, Aus-
tin and the Chas. Tschatschulas.
The Hielschers had all attended
the Moerbe Family Reunion ear-
lier in the day.
