OBITUARIES
MRS. MARV KILIAN
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary
Kilian were held on Wednesday.
March 18th, 1964 in St John’s Lu-
theran Church, Lincoln.
Mary Selma Kilian was born
February 21. 1889 in Lee County,
Lincoln, Texas, the daughter of
the late August Zindler and his
wife Maria, (nec Schneider). She
was baptized in the name, of the
Triune God on March 8. 1889 by
the sainted Pastor L. Ernst, and
on April 5, 1903 she renewed her
baptismal vow in the rite of the
Confirmation in St John’s Chur-
ch, Lincoln. The Confirmation
was also performed by Pastor
Ernst. On October 24, 1915 she
was united in holy wedlock with
Gerhard Kilian, who preceded her
in death on April 16, 1957. This
union was blessed with two daugh-
of grace through the sacrament of
on July 13, 1873. He attended
Trinity Lutheran Day School at
Fedor and was received into com-
municant membership with Trin-
ity Lutheran Church, Fedor by the
1 rite of confirmation on April 3,
1887 by the sainted Rev. G. Birk-
mann. Mr. Dube was a faithful
member of Trinity Lutheran Chu-
. rch and served his congregation
in various offices and spent his
entire life in the Fedor Communi-
ty.
On November 28. 1894 h e was
united in holy wedlock with Ma-
rie Benovsky. This union was
blessed with four sons and two
daughters. His wife, one daugh-
ter and one son preceded him in
death

Mrs. Kilian was a life-long and
faithful member of St. John’s
Congregation. Several days be-
fore her death she suffered a se-
vere heart attack, from which
she seemed to be recovering sat-
isfactorily and even anticipated
returning to her home from the
hospital. However, the Lord will-

16 at noon, she suffered another
heart attack' which ended her
earthly life at the age of 73 years
and 25 days.
She leaves to mourn her sud-

of Round Top, Texas, and Irene,
Mrs. Wm. McCowan of Giddings,
Texas; two grandchildren, Carol
Elaine McCowan and Susan Fay

Zindler of Lincoln, 1 brother, Her-of 90 years, 9 months and 2 days,

years. Mr. Winkler was a farmer
and had lived and farmed in Lee
County in his early years and then
in The Grove Community until
his retirement several years ago
when he moved to Temple. He was
married to Annie Beisert and this
union was blessed with one daugh-
ter and eleven sons. He is sur-
vived by his step-mother, Mrs. I
Lena Winkler of Houston; his
wife, Mrs. Annie Winkler of Tem-
ple; 9 sons, Robert L. Winkler,
Gus Winkler, Adolf Winkler, and
Fred Winkler all of Temple, Paul
Winkler of The Grove, Ernest
Winkler of Port Arthur, Sam
Winkler of Abilene, The Rev. Geo-
rge Winkler of Hong Kong, China.
Norman Winkler of Belton, Ru-’
dolf Winkler of San Antonio; one
daughter, Mrs. Herman (Annie)
Tienert of Walburg; three sisters,
Mrs. Dora Boriack of Potersville.,
Calif, Mrs Erna Hohle of Bel-
ton. Mrs. Bertha Hohle of The
Grove; 39 grandchildren and 6
great grandchildren. One son pre-
ceded him in death several years
ago. Mr. Winkler lived a devout
christian life and brought his
children up in the fear and ad-
monition of the Lord. May his
soul rest in peace and may we
be reconciled and comforted by
the fact that he died as he lived
—a christion.

He attended the rural schools
and was a self trained electrical
and steam engineer. His first
employment was in the Cotton Oil |
Mill in Giddings. Mr. York work-
ed for many years for the South
Texas Ice and Electrical Co. and ;
worked in LaGrange for Pat-Mac !
under the management of B. X
McGuire. After that time he
worked a few years in Austin. His
last employment before his re-
tirement was with the Beisert
Construction Company.
Mr. York had been an invalid
for the past five years in the Bur-
ton Nursing Home in Burton, Tex.
He suffered several strokes and |
on March 27th he entered Lee Me-
morial Hospital in Giddings where
he passed away March 28th, 1964.
Mr. York was a member of the
First Baptist Church of Giddings.
He is survived by two sisters, Mrs
Ada Hosea of Lindale and Mrs.
Ella Lee Moore of Giddings; one
sister-in-law, Mrs. Erie York of
