ing the weekend.
Carolyn Zingelmann spent sev-
eral days in San Antonio last week
visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Henry
Nietenhoefer. Randy Zingelmann
spent a few days at Camp Chrysa-
lis near Kerrville.
Arthur Teinert of Brenham visi-
ted with Mrs. Hulda Teinert and
Mr. and Mrs John Teinert dur-
ing the weekend. Mrs. Billy Lange
to a severe hurt Thursday on his
wrist, when he jabbel the sharp
end of a file which he had in his
hip pocket into his wrist, which
caused profused, bleeding until he
could reach a doctor, and was
weakened by the loss of blood.
Sells Town Home
Mr. and Mrs. Emil E. Matthijetz
have sold their home in Giddings
and are now back at their country
retreat but intend to build soon,
but are somewhat undecided as to
location.
Mrs. Walter Sanders is suffer-
ing with a throat infection these
days and had to call on her doc- |
tor one day.

Houston spent the weekend here |
at their country camp home and |

Gracie visited her brother, Mr.
and Mrs Mathes A. Mertink and
grandchildren Sunday afternoon.
The Mertink’s are busy remodeling
their home presently.

Sisters Spent Their
Vacation in Hawaii
Misses Evelyn and Gladys Mier-
tschin- of Houston spent their va-
cation this year visiting the Ha-
waii Islands, San Francisco, Cal-
ifornia, and Las Vegas
They are the daughters of Mr.
and Mrs. Richard Miertschin of
Bishop and granddaughters of Mr.
and Mrs. Alwin G. Schulze of
Northrup.
Evelyn and Gladys left Houston
on July 24th by air jet to Cali-
fornia and from there on to Ha-
wait where they spent a week. On
their return trip they visited in
San Francisco .and Las Vegas.
On their sightseeing tours on
the islands and in the states they
used a rental car. Gladys said,
“We got us a car and traveled
around the island of Oahu in one
day” Both said Hawaii is beau-
tiful and they enjoyed every bit
of it.
Evelyn remarked that they had
never been out of Texas before,
and this was our chance to see
part of the world.
They returned to Houston and
are now back on their jobs.
They took a lot of pictures on
|their trip and will be happy to
. show them to their relatives and
* friends.

and surprised their parents and
especially for Mrs. Schulze's 69th
birthday with Mr and Mrs Clar-
ence Schulze of Houston serving
as hosts to the family and the fol-
lowing: the Misses Edna and
Frances at home, the Richard
Miertschin’s, of Bishop; the Ar-
thur Nitsch’s, of Cypress; and
the Paul Mertink’s, John Mitsch-
ke’s, Walter and Eldor Schulze’s,
Albert Weise’s and the Misses
Gladys and Evelyn Miertschin,
all of Houston. After opening her
many lovely gifts in the after-
noon, the honoree, Mrs. Schulze
cut her lavishly decorated birth-
day cake, presented to her by her
daughter-in-law, Mrs. Clarence
Schulze, and served it. May she
enjoy many more happy birthdays

and Mrs. Julius Urecht and fam-
ily. Mr. Urecht is now home re-
cuperating from a severe heart at-
tack several weeks ago, but is do-
ing well again. Miss Frances
Mutscher of here has been i n
Houston for several weeks assist-
ing her aunt, Mrs. Urecht while
her husband was hospitalized. A
speedy recovery is wished Mr.
Urecht by his many friends and
relatives here.
Mrs. Johnny Vogel of here and
Rodney and Carol Fritschke of
Houston accompanied Mr. and
Mrs. Rudolf Lorenz to Austin on
business and also visited their ail-
ing uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Henry
