RAILWAYS TO RESUME
TRAFFIC INTERCHANGE
WITH MEXICAN ROADS
Agreement for Return of
Cars and for Payment
Made.
New York. Dec. 29 —Free interchange
of traffic between the railroads of the
United Htates mid Mexico which has
been in abeyance for a year will be
resumed January 1. tho American Rail-
road association announced Tuesday
night..* Under agreement negotiated with
Francisco I'erxes. general director of
the Nationi|l Railways of Mexico cars
belonging to American and Canadian
railroads which were delivered to Mcx-
icin railway* prior to January 1 11)18
are to be considered as sold to tho
Mexican railways at their cost prices.
leA depreciation. All Mexican cars
upon American railroads ire to be re-
turned to Mexico as soon as possible.
No transportation charge will be
made during this ear movement it was
stated. The Mexican railroads how-
ever are to pay without interest the
repair bills due to American or Canad-
ian railroads or for any necessary re-
pairs to enable the cars to rctura to
Mexico.
Mexican cars destroyed on American
railways prior to July 1 IVIU are to
be paid Tor. it is agreed anu all per
ilit-ui charges are to be mutually can-
celled.
An initial payment of 25 per cent
within 30 days after execution of the
euiitract Is to be made by Mexican rail-
ways the balance to be forthcoming in
three equal installments six months
apart.
Tho per diem rules agreement of the
American Railway association with the
National Railways of Mexico was sus-
pended on January 1 11119 when un-
settled conditions in Mexico prevented
the return of cars belonging to Ameri-
can railroads. The Mexican railways
however filed a bond for the return.
Many cars owned by both American and
Canadian railways have been destroyed
in Mexico it was stated and there are
numerous unsettled accounts for re-
pairs.
France Denies Rumors.
Mexico City Dec. 29.—Rumors that
France has temporarily dropped the
question of recognising the present gov-
ernment uf Mexico pending the giving
of necessary guarantees were denied in
a statement made public last night by
the French charge d'affaires. This de-
nial which was received from Georges
Ixygues premier of France declared
France had made no pronouncements re-
garding the recognition of Mexico.

Pharis Whittenbcrg. a popular member
of Georgetown's social set was mar-
ried Monday to Mr. Charles McKamcy

Engineer Is Killed.
.Ansonia Ohio Dee. 29.—George
Riesler Indianapolis engineer was
killed and a number of persons- were
injured when an enstbound passenger
train on the Big Four Railroad turned
over near here Tuesday night.
