second trip to Africa was last
year when Dr. Maddox was ask-
ed to relieve a young physi-
cian who returned to the states
for surgery.
The traveling couple plans to
go to Russia this summer on
vacation, because his retirement
didn't last. He is now a clinic
doctor at Southwestern Baptist
Seminary.
Mrs. Maddox said, “Life Be-
gins at 40.” But, she said that
isn't really true. “Life begins
with retirement, when you are
free from daily demands of
homemaking." She and her hus-
band often travel, and they now
have time to do the many
things they had often longed to
do. ■
She said when a couple re-
fifes they can live in many
countries luxuriously in modest
income, or modestly on a small
income, and at the same time
serve In various capacities. For
instance, a retired teacher can
go into any mission compound
and teach the missionaries’ chil-
dren. releasing the missionaries
to do work for which the teach-
er is not trained.
She concluded by quoting Dr.
George W. Truett, “To seek
