Rash of Fires
Breaking Out
In East Texas
KIRBYVILLE--Spl-A rash
of fires are starting to break
out in East Texas woodlands
with exceptionally dry condi-
tions. Pat Ebarb, district for-
ester with the Texas Forest
Service, warned today
y We have had 15 fires in the

acres There has been no rain
in the area since Sept 17 when
180 inches fell, over a month
ago " Ebarb noted
- He continued, ■ The humidity
has been so low particularly on
Tuesday, that it wouldn’t even,
register on our meters. With
such tinder dry conditions we
are urging East Texas residents
to exercise extreme caution "
Area residents were asked to
be especially careful in burning
out of doors in wooded areas
Of the recent fires cited
Ebarb said there were 4 in Or-
ange County 3 in Jasper County
and 8 in Newton County
