Most families follow the same routine every morning: wake
up, turn up the heater, shower, cook breakfast, and begin the
workday. When multiplied by thousands of families, this
creates a "peak" in PECs power consumption between 5 a.m.
and 10 a.m., especially on weekdays. These peaks, or high
points in electric consumption, lead to higher generating
costs-which show up on your electric bill. The good news
is that peaks can be reduced through voluntary load
management. You use the same amount of electricity but
not within peak hours. Reducing peaks also helps to avoid the
need for expensive new power plants in the future. That's a
billion dollar reason we can all live with, but don't peak.

Boerne man
aids senior
after accident
Boerne resident Mike Brady is a
hero and “the best friend” according
to a San Antonio man.
Daniel T. Henkel of San Antonio
was fishing at the Cibolo Creek in
Boerne when he accidentally
slipped into the water. Brady was at
the creek and went home to get dry
clothes for Henkel.
Following is a letter of apprecia-
tion Henkel wrote to Brady:
Dear Mike Brady,
During my lifetime of 76 years, I
have met many people and I can say
without hesitation, you are the
nicest stranger I have ever met.
You evidently realized the seri-
ousness of my accident and acted!
Hypothermia is sometimes in
seniors fatal.
The fact that you put down your
fishing pole, drove to your house
and brought these things, so I could
dry off and get into dry clothes
points out the fact.
You are the best friend.
Thank you very much
Daniel T. Henkel
