San Antonian Returns to At-
test Curative Powers of
Water in Texas.
A “STATE INDUSTRY”
No Need to Go Elsewhere
When They Have Prov-
en Health Restorative.
Well on the road to health after a
I'-nf and painful iUneea Col. Otto
Wahrmund 200 Hirer avenue la con-
viaeed tint in the waten at Mineral
Welle an auvli curative prupertiea a.
cumparatitvely few Texana have fully
realized. Colonel Wahrtnund returned
Friday after a three week.' stay at
Mineral Welle and will make another
vieit in a abort time.
*1 have no interest whatever in tell-
inn of the wonder* at Mineral Welle ex-
cept that I feel it a duty to let thoee
wlto are ill know that almost at their
door* (hey can find wliat many travel
to remote parte of the earth for" de-
clared Colonel Wahrtnund. “My stay
at Mineral Well* hne proven a revela-
tion to me and I feel that many euffer-
era are failing to take advantage of
what nature offer* them there because
they aimply do not know the truth.
“Why folks travel to French Lick
and Carlsbad and even further to get
what they could get. or something ao
good at Mineral Walla can lie explained
only by the fact that at least in Hila
part of onr state the value ol the
’Crazy' waters U not realized.
AU .-ccommodat lons flood.
*1 can bark up what has been said
about them io the literature that is
sent out. They make no extravagant
claim*. They remind us that the water*
should be used tinder the direction of
* physician and with proper regula-
tion of diet and habit* of living. They
►ay: ‘We do not claim the waters will
cura everything. We do know that
they will cure a large number of ail-
ments and benefit many others! They
have never failed to do some good when
uted as advised.'
•There we have one of nature’s great
wonders four separate and distinct
mineral waters bubbling up in a small
area as well as sweet soft water. The
town Is nccessihle by rail and the roads
although due to dry weather they are
not so good now are ordinarily in ex-
cellent condition. Accommodations are
good and the atmosphere of the town
i quaint quiet and rc-tful. although
modern business conveniences are there.
•There arc good physicians available
and I want to stress the Importance of
taking the waters under the guidance
•f a physician •
Colonel Wahrmund Illustrated this
point by telling of a prominent San
Antonio business man who went to the
well and proceeded to drink waters ir-
regularly. and without regard to what
kind* were best suited to his condition
and then left believing that he had not
been benefited.
•T ndvi’cd him to leave." said Colo-
nel Wahrmund. “He was doing no good

such a regime.”
Colonel Wahrmund also paid high
compliment to the cleanliness and order
ot the town of Mineral Walls
“ I am not a professional booster and
I am not praising Mineral Wella for
the benefit of anyone but those who
would derive much good by going there"
lie emphasised.
How Name Originated.
The “Crazy" waters derive their
name from the fact that long ago two
nomen visited the wells whose infirmi-
ties bad impaired their mluda. They
were so benefited physically that they
recovered mentally and the name
“Crazy" at once came into being. How-
ever the waters are not recommended
for meutal troubles.
They are c«p<cially recommended for
those convalescing from malaria and
surgical oiwA^tions. and for stomach
liver intestinal and kidney complaints
as well as for rhemutlsm. Insomnia is
often helped by the elimination of tox-
in« from the body it i« declared. Itin-
betes sufferers are also sent to the wella
by their physicians.
The waters contain in varying quan-
tities potassium chloride sodium chlor-
ide. sodium nitrate sodium carbonatr.
sodium sulphate mamesium bicarbon-
ate and other salts. Ferric oxida is one
of the ingredients.
A mineral oil in which menthol is
suspended has come into wide use. Il
is taken from the water*.
