FEATURE* From Oct. 9-14, the New Lee College
Players will present their production of "Alice
in Wonderland," created by The Manhattan
Project, under the direction of Andr6 Gregory
and based on Lewis Carroll's classic tale.
Curtain is at 8 p.m. nightly at the Melva
Johnson Theater. For reservations, call x255.
+ Ference Ill6nyi, Houston Symphony
Orchestra first violinist, will be the soloist as
Baytown Symphony Orchestra performs the
first concert of its 1995-96 "Affettuoso" season.
The concert is set for 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct.
15, at Rundell Auditorium. Admission is free
- bring a friend!
+ Also, in the area of music, "Mayhem" is
coming to Baytown! This rock-n-roll group,
featuring Lee College's own Wayne
Matthews, shipping and receiving clerk, as
drummer, will perform at 6:30 p.m. Friday,
Oct. 13, as part of Boom Town Blow-Out. The
group also performed Sunday, Oct. 8, at 2:30
p.m. at Bicentennial Park.
It's a boy for Susan Sheley, journalism
instructor and husband Scott! Born Sept. 25 at
S:. Luke's Hospital in Houston, Scott Austin
SL-eley weighed 7 pounds, 15 ounces and
measured 21 3/4 inches. All are at home and
doing well.
+ Congratulations to Shirley Wallace andVanessa Smith, nursing instructors, who
have completed the Family Nurse Practitioner
Program at Texas Woman's University. The
program was 25 credit hours beyond the
master's degree in nursing and included 465
hours of clinical work. Clinical emphasis was
on physical assessments, treating clients and
managing care for clients of all ages.
+ Welcome to Chuck Carter, instrumenta-
tion instructor and Timothy E. Stone,
custodian, both new this fall at Lee College.
* Conoley Ballard, former Lee College
music department staff accompanist, died
Sept. 21 after a series of heart attacks and a
stroke earlier this year. Also, a recent
Baytown Sun obituary noted the death of
Warren W. Spivey, a former member of the
Lee College Board of Regents.
* Shana Judge, government instructor,
learned at the end of September she passed
the bar exam she took in New Mexico before
coming to Lee College. Congratulations
"counselor"!
* Dr. Rene Maher, who chairs the Allied
Health Division, served as a member of a
Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board
evaluating team that recently visited Howard
College in Big Spring (Dean Steve Evans' old
stomping grounds)....cooperative
efforts in
learning
