In June, the number of residential telephones in service for report-
ing Texas border cities decreased 0.33 percent since May. YTD, the
number of residential telephones in service increased by 2.7 per-
cent. Laredo jumped 6.0 percent, Eagle Pass was up 4.4 percent,
McAllen increased 4.0 percent, Harlingen rose 2.9 percent,
Brownsville was up 3.1 percent and El Paso gained 1.5 percent

In June, the number of business telephones in service for reporting
Texas border cities increased 0.36 percent. YTD, the number of
phones in service rose by 7.2 percent. Laredo had the largest
increase with 10.2 percent; Brownsville and McAllen gained 9.8
percent, Harlingen rose 8.8 percent, Eagle Passjumped 8.6 percent,
