DevelopmentJune building permits issued by reporting Texas border cities were
down 13.0 percent from May. McAllen was up 28.0 percent,
Laredo increased 20.8 percent, Eagle Pass rose 14.3 percent,
Harlingen gained 10.1 percent, Brownsville increased 8.8 percent
and El Paso was up 8.5 percent. YTD, the number of permits issuedwere up 8.8 percent. El Paso, accounting for 31.9 percent of all
building permits issued in June, had an increase of 0.7 percent
YTD. Laredo, with 29.9 percent of building permits issued, was up
23.9 percent YTD.Brownsville was up 12.8 percent, while McAllen

up 68.0 percent from May. Harlingen was up 730.1 percent. El Paso
increased 86.6 percent, Laredo grew 67.0 percent, Brownsville
gained 44.3 percent, Eagle Passjumped 16.6 percent. McAllen was
off 27.9 percent, and Del Rio fell 5.8 percent. YTD, reportingborder cities experienced a 30.5 percent increase in building permit
values. El Paso, with 44.2 percent total value for the month of June,
rose 25.3 percent YTD. Laredo with 17.6 percent total value,
increased 24.2 percent YTD. Brownsville with 10.9 percent total
