percent (1,844jobs gained) over May's figures. Laredo's employ-
mentjumped 0.4 percent (271 jobs gained), Brownsville increased
0.6 percent (232 jobs gained), El Paso gained 0.8 percent (1,864
jobs gained). Del Rio gained 1.2 percent (232 jobs gained). YTD,compiled by Texas A &M International
the total employment in Texas border cities was up 2. 1 percent
(9,225 jobs gained) from a year ago. The average unemployment
rate for the border was 10.6 percent compared to 5.4 percent for
Texas and 4.5 percent for the U.S. in June.% Unemployed June 98-99
