Laredo rose 60.7 percent, McAllen gained 39.8 percent, Del Rio
increased 29.8 percent, Brownsville was up 27.4 percent, and Eagle
Pass, up 4.1 percent. YTD, the number of tourist visas issued were
up 1.3 percent. Laredo, with 53.1 percent of total visas issued in
June was up 3.0 percent YTD. McAllen, with 18.4 percent of total
visas issued, had a 7.1 percent increase YTD. El Paso, with 10.9
percent of all visas issued, fell 25.3 percent YTD. In contrast,
Brownsville with 12.3 percent of total visas issued, increased 36.4

The average hotel occupancy rate for reporting Texas border hotels
for June increased 22.0 percent. McAllen had an occupancy rate of
78.5 percent, Laredo's occupancy was 69.7 percent, El Paso
reported a rate of 86.9 percent and Brownsville had a rate of 74.3
percent in June.0
